Every Premier League Club’s Best January Transfer Target
With the January transfer window opened, clubs are now shifting their attention to strengthening their squads to help achieve their targets for the season. Most clubs don’t spend much because it’s difficult getting the quality needed in the window. Usually most clubs spend because a player in the squad is injured or a star player is snatched away from their club. Let’s take a look at every premier league’s club’s transfer target and see how they could help strengthen their new teams. (Photo Credits to Skysports.com)
Arsenal – Denis Suarez
Denis Suarez has been the name on arsenal fans’ lips this week. It is somehow nostalgic considering the team was getting linked with a move for then Liverpool striker Luis Suarez 5 years ago. We all know how that ended up. With Aaron Ramsey set to leave the club in the summer, Unai Emery is looking for a replacement, and thus, Suarez moving to the Emirates makes sense. He has worked under Emery before at Sevilla and has praised him a lot. He looks like the type of midfielder that can play the way Emery wants him to play.
Brighton and Hove Albion – Callum Mcgregor
The guy is doing bits for Celtic and chances are , if you do well at Celtic, you will do well in the prem. Mcgregor would be an excellent addition to the impressive Chris Hutton-Managed side. At 25, he is still yet to reach his prime and looks like an exciting prospect.
Bournemouth – Kieran Tierney
Bournemouth have been superb this season, but they have struggled with injuries in the full-back positions. Despite buying Nathaniel Clyne on loan, they are looking to strengthen and increase quality in those positions thus a move for Celtic’s Tierney makes sense. He has got all the qualities required to make it in the premier league and even develop further under the superb manager in Eddie Howe and would end up getting sold for Maximum profit after a while.
Burnley – Jay Rodriguez
Burnley have been playing poorly this season. From being on the verge of making it into European football last season to now struggling for survival in the premier league. Despite Sam Vokes and Ashley Barnes being superb last season, they have not been not at their best this season and thus need to strengthen that position with the addition of West Brom forward Jay Rodriguez. He could provide width and also score goals that would help them survive relegation.
Cardiff City – Neal Maupay
Cardiff City are another team that could end up getting relegated. However, they may need the services of Brentford forward, Neal Maupay, to help them avoid relegation as they have clearly been misfiring on this side of the pitch this season. They are also being awkwardly getting linked with Roma’s Edin Dzeko who would definitely be a good addition despite it not being a realistic move. They are also on the verge of completing Emiliano Sala’s signing from France but his plane went mysteriously missing recently en route to Cardiff. All we can do is pray and hope for the best.
Chelsea – Callum Wilson
Chelsea are still adapting to life under new manager Maurizio Sarri. They are, however, lacking in some departments and as such they are being linked with a move for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson even after getting close to completing a loan deal for misfiring Juventus forward Gonzalo Higuain. Alvaro Morata is been linked away from the bridge and Oliver Giroud is set to leave the club at the end of the season. Wilson’s mobility would help Sarriball a great deal and given he is still in his twenties, would be a good long term option for the future.
Crystal Palace – Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Chelsea clearly don’t put their faith in exciting prospects and thus the likes of Hudson-Odoi are being linked away from the Bridge. Reuben made it into the England squad for the world cup while at Palace and they are interested in him again. Loftus cheek needs more game time to cement a place in the England squad because his opportunities at Chelsea are usually limited.
Everton – Jamaal Lascelles
Everton are being linked with a move for Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles. They strongly need to strengthen their defence considering they’ve spent a lot in this department but its still not bearing fruit. They also need a stronger, solid midfield and thus Tanguay Ndombele would also be a great addition to Marco Silva’s side.
Fulham – Chris Smalling
Fulham are abysmal in defence, and as such they have been linked with Chris Smalling, Gary Cahill and even Phil Jones. They are all experienced internationals that would really help the club avoid relegation. Loanees Calum Chambers and Timothy Fosu Mensah have surely not been the solution because they are still young and thus need experience to help grow them.
Huddersfield Town – Neil Maupay
Maupay is clearly a man in demand and Huddersfield need more man power in defence and according to Sky Sports, Wagner is eyeing a 10 million pounds move for Maupay and he would be a great addition if rock bottom and manager-less Huddersfield want to avoid the axe.
Leicester City – Danny Drinkwater
Danny Drinkwater moving back to the midlands would help the foxes a great deal and could end up reigniting the best out of Jamie Vardy. The guy is sitting on a massive 100k a week’s wages at Chelsea but can’t even make the bench at the Bridge and is surely not in Sarri’s plans.
Liverpool – Nabil Fekir
World cup winner Nabil Fekir was close to joining Liverpool in the summer but failed a medical due to a knee injury. However, the team is being linked with a move for him again this month and apparently he has submitted a formal transfer request to Lyon. He would make the perfect replacement for Filipe Coutinho and would surely make Liverpool’s front three unstoppable and provide depth to a squad that is sometimes injury prone
Newcastle United – Gelson Martins
This team has been linked with every name under the sun so far this window. The club are struggling for goals and the fans are even begging Benitez to drop Joselu from the squad completely. They could have signed Ac Milan – Bound Krzysztof Piatek but it is already too late. The guy is ripping serie A to shreds and has already broken Gabriel Batistuta’s record of scoring 7 goals in his first 7 league appearances.Martins, however,is struggling for game time at the Wanda Metropolitano and would do well with minutes under his belt on loan at Newcastle while helping them score more goals.
Manchester United – Kalidou Koulibaly
Manchester United and Arsenal are the only top 6 teams having defensive nightmares. Both teams have been linked with Kalidou Koulibaly to solve these problems and help them compete with the other top 4 rivals. He is a complete defender with everything needed to be a top player in the premier league and could finally provide competition to Virgil Van Dijk as the league’s best center back.
Manchester City – Tanguy Ndombele
Manchester City always look unstoppable until Fernandinho gets ruled out with injury. They lost 2 consecutive games in December without their Ageing Anchorman and as such they need back up. They are getting linked with Tanguy Ndombele of Lyon. The man has been playing superb this season and has even earned a France call up and looks set to become world-class.
Southampton – Edin Dzeko
Southampton are rising steadily under Ralph Hasenhuttl since his appointment in November. They have got two decent players in Danny Ings and Charlie Austin but both are best friends to the Southampton treatment staff and thus need reinforcements. It would look like a good destination for Edin Dzeko to return to the premier league.
Tottenham Hotspur – Jack Grealish
Jack Grealish has strongly been linked with a move to Spurs since the summer. This would be a good destination for another English youth prospect and is also too good for the championship. Tottenham have always been a breed for homegrown talent and thus, Jack would be a good addition to the side and provide depth to the squad.
Watford – Divock Origi
Watford are not getting linked with loads of players but are being linked with Liverpool’s Belgian forward Divock Origi.Origi is struggling for gametime at liverpool and needs to move elsewhere to unleash his undoubted talent. He is also getting linked to Tottenham Hotspur, who are also struggling with injuries to key men.The guy could help bolster their misfiring attack comprising an overpriced Andre Gray and an ageing Troy Deeney.
West Ham – Maxi Gomez
West Ham are reshaping under Manuel Pellegrini and have even recently added Samir Nasri to their ranks. They also need a striker to help Marko Arnautovic who wants out of that atmosphere-less,fish bowl of a stadium. Javier Hernandez is misfiring, Andy Carroll keeps getting stuck at the treatment table and Lucas Perez is just Lucas Perez. They would do good with Uruguay and Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez.
Wolverhampton – Hector Herrera
Wolverhampton are filling their team with players who are Portuguese or have played in Liga NOS at one point in their career. They are getting linked with Mexican international Hector Herrera ,who could even join them on a free transfer in the summer. He is also getting linked to Arsenal. Not bad for a 28 year old in his prime years.
